Audiovisual Centre (AVC)

Content-driven team with a passion for technology

The Audiovisual Centre is central within the VU for everything that has to do with audio and video. For example, the AVC offers dozens of options for support and maintenance of equipment, customization in the production of events, development of video and audio material, but also modular or custom-installed AV systems for rooms and halls.

The best quality of service is central to the AVC. On the basis of decades of experience, a wide range of deployable equipment and excellent knowledge, we ensure that your project is realized completely according to your wishes. We are the partner for information and advice on the deployment and use of image, light and sound.

Since the AVC offers various options, our activities are divided into various characteristic parts. Below you can find more information about all our options.

  • Service & Support

    The Service & Support team provides advice and offers technical support for the use of AV resources in education and education-related events, and takes care of the rental of audiovisual equipment. Examples of rentable equipment are wireless microphones, video cameras, presentation displays and sound sets. To request rental, you can use the form provided at the top of this page.

    In addition, we provide support and solutions with audiovisual resources during education. Education is one of the most important parts of the VU, and we ensure that any problems are solved quickly. For any questions, you can contact us during opening hours by phone through Servicedesk FCO.

    When applying for a rental, it is important that all information is filled in completely, and that the application is submitted at least one week in advance, due to availability of equipment and employees. In addition, equipment may only be rented for use on the VU campus. Small equipment can be collected from the AVC during opening hours, or delivered to security in the Main Building outside opening hours. Major equipment is brought, installed and collected, these costs include the rental price. Finally, it is sometimes necessary to charge an hourly wage for operation by an AV technician for equipment. Our indicative list of rates can be found below under 'Indicative list of rates'.

  • Video Productions

    We create video productions on request for education at the VU. This includes recording and posting lectures and knowledge clips online, recording education-related events and custom productions such as promotional films and animations. This service is provided on request. Thanks to our expertise, we can create the perfect picture in dozens of different situations, from start to finish.

    We offer various standard types of video recordings, such as knowledge clips, impression films and green screen videos, but also customization for specific situations. In addition, we work with various products developed in-house to provide you with the best possible service. Examples include virtually linked room (forwarding audio and video to another room), seminars (interactive events and more for online use), and a professional video recording studio. Here we work with various 4K quality cameras, light, backgrounds, autocue facilities and more. Animations and special effects are also part of our capabilities.

  • Events

    Our Events team offers audiovisual advice, design and support, for example for events or academic ceremonies. We work closely with Events for large and/or complex events. The AVC Events provides professional support and audiovisual resources, including the necessary technicians and operators, while C&M Events takes care of the overall coordination of the event. For academic ceremonies, such as a promotion or inaugural lecture, we work together with Bureau Pedel. The beadle takes care of the overall coordination, and the AVC offers technical advice and implementation, for example when operating the audiovisual resources.

    If you only need audiovisual service, you can contact us with the contact details below. For support at events you should contact C&M Events (events@vu.nl) and for academic ceremonies you should contact Bureau Pedel (pedel@vu.nl).

    Our technical support is based on availability, for this you are requested to contact the relevant departments early in the event of major events. Depending on the size of the event, the application must be submitted to the Audiovisual Center at least 4 to 12 weeks prior to the event. The minimum application time can be requested via Events or Bureau Pedel.

  • Technical Service

    Our Technical Service provides educational, meeting and event rooms with audiovisual equipment. For example, various 'standard' set-ups are produced for both physical and hybrid situations, in addition to providing customization. Examples are the Auditorium, rooms in the NU-building and more. By providing customized solutions from the Technical Service, we can deliver an arrangement according to your wishes in every room, taking into account the wishes of the client at all times.

    We also offer options for placing and installing AV systems. You can state your wishes using the form provided at the top of this page, after which the Technical Service of AVC will contact you with the various options.

    You can get an indication of our costs with the list below, but you can also contact us for a cost indication specifically for your assignment.
