Teams
The department of Educational Policy and Advice consists of three teams:
- Educational Policy
- Education Analytics
- VU Network for Teaching & Learning (VU NT&L)
Educational Policy
The Educational Policy Team has an external task: representing VU Amsterdam in national policy consultations, and an internal task: supporting the Executive Board and the faculties in drawing up, implementing and evaluating education policy. Based on the institutional plan and external developments, working groups and projects are initiated on current policy dossiers. In addition, the Educational Policy Team supports faculties in matters such as intake policy, study advice, study success, language policy, educational innovation and IT, test policy, student guidance, pre-masters, joint degrees and quality improvement of education.
Educational quality and quality assurance
University-wide support for (the supervision of) the quality of education is provided by the department of Education Policy and Advice. The department supervises the external process of visitations, accreditations and TNOs (Toets Nieuwe Opleiding) at the institutional level and provides support at the faculty level. The department also directs the process of strengthening internal quality assurance, for example by conducting mid-term reviews of study programmes.
Educational Policy and Advice coordinates and offers support for these 3 instruments for strengthening educational quality (care):
1) drawing up a self-evaluation report
2) Carrying out trial visits
3) Carrying out a mid-term review
The department, in cooperation with other services and departments, provides key figures and formats that are used for the P&C cycle. Educational Policy and Advice also provides general support and advice to the faculties on internal and external educational quality assurance.
Education Analytics
Education Analytics is a VU data facility that analyses education and student data in order to improve student intake, progression and graduation in all phases of education.
Education Analytics is committed to using data to support policy making, student guidance and scientific research into academic success as effectively as possible. We call this data-informed policy. We provide the VU with insights into student intake, progression and graduation and thus contribute to the quality of education at the VU.
