ACASA is an academic centre with the combined expertise of VU Amsterdam and the University of Amsterdam in the fields of ancient studies, classics and archaeology.

Together, VU Amsterdam and the UvA organise several joint Bachelor's and Master's programmes, minors and a pre-master in joint programmes. You enroll at either VU Amsterdam or the UvA, but the programme is the same. 

Education

The ACASA Bachelor's programmes are mainly taught in Dutch, although two English-taught programmes are also offered. The ACASA Master's programmes are all taught in English.  The ACASA Bachelor's programmes are mainly taught in Dutch, although two English-taught programmes are also offered. The ACASA Master's programmes are all taught in English.

Students from all over the world (more than 60 nationalities) study at the Graduate Schools of both participating universities each year. Students with a completed Bachelor's degree in Classics, Archaeology or Ancient Studies can seek admission to the Master's degree programmes on offer. All master programmes can be completed taking courses taught in English only. Detailed information about the admission criteria can be found on the webpages describing the different study programmes. During the admission process, international students will receive help with enrolling at the universities, finding accommodation and acquiring the correct visa.
