CLTL studies how computers can model language and communication and how this technology can be used. This results in different applications, such as text mining, translation, hate-speech detection and moderation, language-learning, summarisation and human-robot interaction.
CLTL products and research
CLTL offers a variety of Natural Language Processing tools and resources. Our software, including Large Language Models, is available on Hugging Face and our open-source code can be accessed on GitHub. We also provide language resources like annotated corpora and lexicons. Popular examples are the Open Dutch Wordnet and Framenet, key resources for Dutch.
Our research covers languages worldwide. One significant project is the Global Wordnet Association and the Global Wordnet Grid. This project aims to represent many languages' vocabularies as semantic networks or wordnets, connecting them through a universal index of meaning. Studying this grid helps us understand the commonalities and unique features of different languages and the roles and functions of words and expressions.
