Alumni Faculty of Medicine

After your graduation at the Faculty of Medicine you are an alumnus of VU Amsterdam. And together with over 150,000 other former students, part of a diverse and global alumni network. Throughout your life, you will keep a special place within our VU community.

There are many ways to stay involved with VU and your faculty as an alumnus. For example, feel most welcome to attend faculty alumni meetings and other interesting events at VU. You may also call upon us for individual career advice and a wide range of courses and training programmes to keep on learning.

Stay informed through our bi-monthly alumni newsletter on developments at VU and feel inspired by stories of alumni and scientists. In this newsletter you will also always find specially selected news about the Faculty of Medicine.

Go to the main alumni website for a complete overview of everything VU has to offer you as an alumnus.Wat kun jij als alumnus voor de VU betekenen?

What can you bring to VU as an alumnus?

Share your knowledge
All our alumni together represent an enormous wealth of knowledge and experience. Which makes this alumni network very valuable for students and (young) alumni who are at the beginning of their careers. And you as an alumnus can make a contribution in various ways.

For example, would you like to give a guest lecture or be a mentor? Then please mail to alumni.gnk@amsterdamumc.nl.

Share job openings and internships with our students
In search of young talent for an internship or vacancy within your organization? As an alumnus, you also know that bringing in a motivated VU student will provide you with the quality you are looking for. Currently, the Faculty of Medicine is developing a platform where alumni can easily share internships and job opportunities. Once this platform is live, the URL will be shared here.

For more information, please contact Career Officer Annemieke Smits at a.h.smits@amsterdamumc.nl.

Up to a year after your graduation, you are welcome to contact Career Services for coaching, advice on your resume or cover letter, workshops and other events.

Please contact Career Officer Annemieke Smits at a.h.smits@amsterdamumc.nl or read more on the Career Services page (in Dutch only)

Visit VU-wide events

We'd love to see you at the many events we host throughout the year. Like at Déjà VU, our annual summer festival in June, for alumni, students and staff of VU. You are also welcome to attend our academic ceremonies, such as Opening Academic Year and Dies Natalis.

Visit faculty meetings

This year, for the first time, a meeting specifically for Faculty of Medicine alumni will be organized. The plan is to organize such meetings more often in the future. These are a great opportunity to connect with former classmates, network and exchange ideas with fellow professionals.

In addition, as an alumnus you may also attend inaugural speeches and PhD defences in which you have an interest. Check our calendar for all events organized by the Faculty of Medicine.
