Conference centres Salutem, Forum and Novum

There are 3 conference centres on the VU campus: Forum (Main Building), Salutem (MF Building) and Novum (New University building).

Forum is available to VU staff only. Salutem can be used both by internal VU units and by external parties based on the VU campus.

The rooms have a fixed meeting layout and are equipped with an LCD screen. A computer is not available as part of the set-up, but you can connect the screen to your own laptop. Banqueting is provided by our caterer on request.

Salutem conference centre (MF Building)

Salutem is located on the first floor of D wing (MF 1D), and consists of three rooms with a capacity of between 14 and 18 people. The rooms are all equipped with an LCD screen. A computer is not available as part of the set-up, so you are required to provide your own laptop. The conference centre does not have its own coffee and tea facilities. Banqueting is provided by our caterer on request.

These rooms can be used both by internal VU units and by external parties based on the VU campus. Outside office hours (Monday to Friday from 5.00 PM to 10.00 PM) the rooms can also be hired by external parties and/or used for meetings and events.

Reservations can be made through your own secretariat (internal) or the meeting room reservation form (external). Applications are dealt with in the order in which they are received; there is no priority system in place. Use of the meeting rooms is subject to VU Amsterdam’s Rental Conditions. Applications are processed within two working days. For external parties, there are costs associated with the use of the rooms. These will be charged afterwards based on the number of hours reserved.

FORUM conference centre (Main Building)

Forum is located on the first floor of D wing (HG 1D), and consists of seven rooms (Forum 3-8) with a capacity of between 8 and 20 people. The rooms have a fixed meeting layout, and are equipped with a computer and an LCD screen. A connection for your own laptop is also available. Forum is for use by VU staff only. Reservations can be made through your own secretariat. Forum has a lounge with coffee and tea facilities, for the exclusive use of visitors to the conference centre.

Novum conference centre (New University Building)

The 2nd floor of the New University Building houses a representative and inviting conference centre, with 8 rooms varying in size between 14 and 32 people.

In addition to the rooms, the meeting centre has an open area for short (bilateral) consultations and several foyers for landing, using as a base for banqueting or as a meeting area. Novum has a foyer with coffee and tea facilities. Visitors to the venue can make use of this.

AV and IT facilities

All rooms are equipped with professional (easy-to-use) audiovisual equipment for giving presentations or PBL. The room for 32 people (02A-65) will have a 75-inch screen to have good visibility from anywhere. The other screens are 55 inches. The screen is on a mobile trolley with a control panel. Instructions on how to use the screens are available in all rooms. There is also an HDMI and USB-C cable ready to connect your laptop to the screen, for example. The rooms are equipped with WePresent. You can present there wirelessly. WIFI is available everywhere.

External visitors and guests can use a guest account free of charge via IT. As a VU employee, you request the account via the IT Service Desk. By email or SMS, your guest will receive information on how to create a temporary account to access the WIFI network.
