The Forensic Neuropsychology research group is led by dr. Siri Noordermeer. The research focuses in particular on acquired brain injury (ABI) in the forensic population. Topics that are studied include assessing ABI and its prevalence in the forensic population, as well as the possible consequences of ABI for forensic treatment and treatment outcomes. An important goal is to make practitioners aware of the presence of ABI and there with improve treatment outcomes in this challenging population.
Methodological approaches that are used include assessments of neurocognitive functioning and imaging techniques to visualize the brain (structural MRI, DTI). To this end, the research group collaborates with various forensic organizations.
