The Initium building was designed by the Op ten Noort Blijdenstein office. The building houses the Faculty of Law, the Dutch Crime and Law Enforcement Study Center (NSCR) and Taalcentrum VU. Initium - 'start' - is the entrance of the Campus on the Buitenveldertselaan side: through a gate you reach the campus square. In addition, the name 'initium' refers to a new concept of working and studying, using flexible workplaces.
