Research Software Support

The Humanities Lab supports researchers on matters of software management, training and computational resources. Working together with the University Library and IT for Research, we can advise you on the following: managing software throughout research projects; developing software skills; getting support for developing software; accessing computational resources.

Managing research software

Do you write code for data analysis or computational experiments as part of a research project? Or develop software tools for reuse across projects? Depending on your field of research, you may be able to rely on established practices or find yourself wondering which software practices to follow.

We can advise you on the best software practices adapted to your needs and help you develop your software and code in good conditions.

Software skills training

The University Library, the eScience center and SURF regularly organize training workshops:

Software development support

Researchers looking for help developing software for a project can turn to the eScience center, which supports researchers with software-engineering services in all fields including the Humanities, either through open calls or on request.

Computational resources

For computationally intensive applications, researchers can contact IT for Research for access to the BAZIS compute cluster or SURF computational resources.

It is also possible to directly apply to SURF for access based on 1-year pilot grants or NWO grants.
