Sport

Sport is important for society. And science can make an important contribution to this. That is why the VU invests in sports facilities and in research into sports and exercise. This includes the clap skate and the super seat, but also the developments surrounding research on stumbling, children and exercise, obesity, and nutrition.

To take research to an even higher level, the Amsterdam knowledge institutions have united as the Amsterdam Institute of Sport Science (AISS). In addition to the VU, the partners of AISS are also the VUmc, HvA, UvA, and AMC. AISS seeks close cooperation with sports organizations and the Center for Top Sport and Education Amsterdam (CTO).

AISS mainly focuses on practice-relevant research into performance improvement, exercise and health, entrepreneurship in sports, and multi- and interdisciplinary education. Internships are also coordinated from AISS. Read more on www.aiss.nl.

Staff and students also benefit from the VU's attention to sports, exercise and health. The VU is committed to a broad and affordable package of sports facilities to promote health, facilitate social interaction and support sports talents. Find out more about VU Sports Centre >

Attention to movement

The VU does not limit itself to science in its attention to sports, exercise and health. As a sporting university, it also wants to invest in the well-being and health of its students and employees.

Sport for students
An extensive sports program and an attractive package of facilities and (financial) arrangements for top-level athletes are offered at favorable conditions. In addition, VU Sports Centre works closely with numerous student sports associations. Sporty and fun! More info: www.sportcentrumvu.nl
