Its main objective is to help organisations see opportunities for sustainable change within their business by offering recommendations on how to tackle their own specific challenges in ways that align with their values and create opportunities for sustainability transformation. In this way, the SDG Scan helps initiate sustainable change processes within organisations both for challenges faced today, and challenges yet to come.
SDG scan with Sustainability Leadership Hub
The VU Sustainability Leadership Hub and the Amsterdam Sustainability Institute have co-developed and carefully designed an SDG Scan via the framework of the United Nations' Sustainable
Development Goals. It helps organisations prioritise and tackle challenges in a sustainable way.
Results of the SDG scan 2020
In November 2020, 167 students conducted 26 SDG Scans in 7 industries and 5 countries in Europe, Asia and North America. The most frequently mentioned SDGs were SDG 12, Responsible Consumption and Production (mentioned in 54% of the reports), SDG 8, Decent Work and Economic Growth (38%), and SDG 3, Good Health and Wellbeing (35%). All 26 companies experienced the implications of the COVID-19 pandemic and related measures in one way or another.
