CLUE+ has a diverse group of partners beyond the VU campus, ranging from local government and cultural institutions in Amsterdam to fellow research institutes and corporate organisations around the world.

    The Centre for Global Heritage and Development

    The Centre for Global Heritage and Development (CGHD) initiates, stimulates and facilitates interdisciplinary, innovative research and education in the field of heritage. As research partners, CLUE+ and the CGHD work together closely to organise the Re-scape Colloquia four times a year, an event connecting researchers and students with inspirational academics and professionals. CLUE+ also works with the CGHD in publishing The Journal of European Landscapes.

    Ename

    The Centre for Public Archaeology and Heritage Presentation
    Ename is an international centre of knowledge and expertise that focuses on the interpretation of heritage, specifically involving sites and monuments as an advisory body of UNESCO. Its projects in Flanders, Europe and the rest of the world are characterised by a multidisciplinary, scientific approach that is open and creative.

    DIA

    The Institute for German Studies
    A centre of expertise on modern Germany, the Institute for German Studies (DIA) collaborates with the University of Amsterdam and connects education, science and society. Working together with CLUE+ researchers, the DIA operates as a key partner in the Global History, Heritage and Memory research programme.

    KNIR

    The Royal Dutch Institute Rome
    The Royal Dutch Institute Rome (KNIR) is the oldest and largest of the international Dutch Scientific Institutes. It serves as an important bridge between the Dutch and Italian academic communities and the extensive international academic community present in Rome. The KNIR offers a wide range of educational courses and provides impactful research grants. CLUE+ works with the KNIR to support international, interdisciplinary dialogue on heritage and culture.

    The Netherlands Institute in Turkey

    The Netherlands Institute in Turkey (NIT) is a research centre dedicated to the historical study of Turkey and surrounding regions. By conducting historical and archaeological research, the centre supports studies in the humanities and social sciences that are in some way connected to Turkey. CLUE+ and the NIT are partners in projects related to heritage, culture, landscape and history.

    The New Amsterdam History Centre

    New Amsterdam laid the foundational character for today’s New York City. The New Amsterdam History Centre (AMHC) aims to encourage exploration of the Dutch history of the city with special reference to its ethnic, racial and religious diversity, urban landscapes, economic vitality and global legacy. CLUE+ researchers work together with the AMHC on topics related to history, heritage and culture.

    Interreg Europe

    CLUE+ supports Interreg Europe in helping regional and local European governments to develop and deliver better policy. Interreg Europe aims to ensure government investment, innovation and implementation efforts lead to integrated, sustainable impacts for people and places. CLUE+ notably collaborated with Interreg on the award-winning HERICOAST project.

    NiNsee

    National Institute of Dutch Slave History and Heritage
    The National Institute of Dutch Slave History and Heritage (NiNsee) collects, manages and develops knowledge on the history of transatlantic slavery and the colonial past. The NiNsee also organises annual national commemoration activities. As a knowledge centre, the NiNsee has supported CLUE+ on various research projects associated with the Global History, Heritage and Memory research programme.

    The Week of the Vacant Building 

    The Week of the Vacant Building is an interdisciplinary initiative shedding light on unused, vacant buildings in the Netherlands. Through research, various academic and non-academic partners can help to address the challenges that these buildings pose. CLUE+ is proud to participate in investigating key topics, including emerging notions of transformation, the energy transition and quality of life.
