What is valorisation?
Definition: ‘Valorisation is the process of creating value from scientific knowledge, by making it suitable and/ or available for economical and/ or social exploitation and to translate it into innovative products, services, processes and new business to benefit society & public health.’
Examples valorisation of knowledge are setting up a collaboration with a societal enterprise or multinational for the implementation of a research project, patenting an invention and licensing it to a company, by setting up a spin-off company or by participating in the public debate.
IXA-GO (Innovation Exchange Amsterdam - Grant Office) can help you identify the best valorisation strategy to further advance your particular idea, invention, innovation, product, service, technology or (educational) material.
IXA-GO can support and facilitate you in all these ways of valorisation:
- Does your valorisation process start with an innovation, such as an invention, new software or a smart questionnaire? IXA-GO helps you find a external party that wants to take over or license your idea to develop a new product or service.
- If you are dealing with negotiations with private parties or consortia, IXA-GO can support you in those negotiations. IXA-GO focuses mainly on commercial conditions, intellectual property and legal details.
- IXA-GO has its own financing instrument, the IXA-GO Impact Fund. This Fund is there to finance studies that determine conceptual, social, technical and/or economic feasibility and/or market opportunities. Please contact ixa@vu.nl or your IXA-GO business developer to apply.
- If you want to set up a company, IXA-GO can support you.
- Does your idea or invention need legal protection? IXA-GO can support you by applying for a patent or claiming a copyright. Timely protection is essential if the idea is to be further exploited.
- For legal support with research contracts, licensing agreements, non-disclosure agreements, material transfer agreements, etc., you can contact the lawyers of the legal department of BZ . The rule is 'the sooner the better'.
