Bob Planqué recently had the honour to receive the Dutch Data Prize at NWO in the category Life Sciences and Health. He co-founded the citizen science platform Xeno-canto.org back in 2005. This website hosts the world’s largest collection of wildlife sounds that are FAIRly distributed. With the input from over 10,000 researchers and other enthusiasts world wide, Xeno-canto forms the basis of most bioacoustics AI recognition algorithms, and has had a large impact in evolutionary and ecological bioacoustics research.
