7 November 2024
Associate Professor Imran Avci of Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam, at the Department of Physics and Astronomy, Biophotonics and Medical Imaging Group, receives €200,000 in funding from the Nationaal Groeifonds through the Biotech Booster Programme.

With around 1.8 million new cases per year, lung cancer is the second most commonly diagnosed cancer and the leading cause of cancer deaths globally. Early diagnosis is crucial for increasing survival rates and reducing treatment costs. Thanks to this grant, our team will further develop our patented detection technology and new sensing concepts, taking a significant step toward bringing our innovative biosensors to market. This support not only recognizes the potential of our research but also bolsters our commitment to revolutionizing cancer diagnostics, enhancing the accuracy, speed, and accessibility of lung cancer screening, and improving patient outcomes worldwide.
