A colourful take on the Bible, on religion, sexuality and gender

Who would have thought the Bible is full of feminist and queer stories? It's all a matter of interpretation, says VU SRT's Mariecke van den Berg in KRO-NCRV's radio show De Nacht van...

As a theologian Mariecke reads the Bible from different perspectives. Because the sacred texts will always have different interpretations throughout history. And then it turns out that you can read a lot of the stories from a feminist or queer perspective. It also offers space for people to recognize themselves in the Bible.

In the interview she unfolds how religion, sexuality and gender go hand in hand and how Christianity is used as a political weapon. "I hope that theology can contribute to a world in which we go for justice."
