From banking to brewing, renewable energy to AI, the Master’s Digital Business & Innovation tackled real-world challenges across a wide range of industries in this year’s Digital Innovation Lab (DIL) course.
Throughout the DIL course, students applied agile methodologies and design thinking to co-create digital solutions for companies in fields such as financial services, smart energy, environmental action, fintech, HR consulting, mobile commerce, and more.
The course culminated in a pitching event, where student teams presented their prototypes to company representatives and digital innovation experts. Among the participating organizations were ABN AMRO, Heineken, Earth Action, Net2Grid, Billspace, Dataiku, GreatPlace2Work, Rezolve, and Vandebron — all providing cases for our students to work on.
A jury of company representatives and innovation professionals evaluated the final presentations. Jorissa Neutelings, Chief Digital Officer at ABN AMRO, announced this year’s winners:
- First place went to TrustNet — a blockchain-based identification solution developed for ABN AMRO by Maitrie Bansal, Marc van Heemskerk, Joey Hutink, and Alessandro Pierozzi.
- Second place was awarded to A Smart Energy Dashboard for Vandebron, a platform designed to help users monitor and optimize their energy usage, created by Samin Bemanian, Anton Müller, Anwar Souini, and Adam van der Wel.
A huge thank you to course coordinator Lukas Falcke, and the track leads Roos Brekelmans and Laura Nino Caceres for their considerable efforts in course design, as well as to all students, coaches, and industry partners whose dedication made the event a success!
