    Prof. Markus Baer (Olin Business School, Washington University in St. Louis, USA), 2021

    Markus Baer is Professor of Organizational Behavior at the Olin Business School, Washington University in St. Louis (USA). Markus Baer’s research, which can be found in the leading academic journals, has won multiple awards. Recognized for his expertise, Dr. Baer has published and also served on the editorial boards of some of the most prestigious research journals in the field of management, such as the Academy of Management Journal (EI 94, AI 99), the Journal of Applied Psychology (EI 92, AI 97), and Organization Science (EI 93, AI 97). In 2016, he started his three-year tenure as Associate Editor of the Academy of Management Journal.
    Dr. Baer has received accolades for his teaching from the Olin Business School and internationally as one of the world’s top 40 business professors under 40. Since 2013, Dr. Baer has been collaborating with the Brookings Executive Education program in Washington D.C., for which he teaches a nationwide audience of US government executives. In addition, he has taught at various government agencies, including the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA), the Office of Naval Intelligence (ONI) and the Department of the Interior (DOI), to name a few.

    Xavier Castañer (HEC Lausanne, Faculty of Business and Economics, University of Lausanne, Switzerland), 2021

    Xavier Castañer is a Full professor of the Strategy Department, HEC Lausanne, Faculty of Business and Economics, University of Lausanne (SUI). Moreover, the president-elect at the International Federation of Scholarly Associations of Management. Xavier Castañer possess an excellent research track record with multiple top-publications in prestigious research journals, such as the Academy of Management Review (EI 87, AI 99), the Strategic Management Journal (EI 91, AI 97), and Journal of Management (EI 92, AI 98). His research output associates closely with the research pluriformity within the M&O department in particular and the faculty more broadly. Furthermore, he has a strong track record in sharing his research experiences within different academic settings, including the AoM, SMS, and Euram. He has fulfilled, and fulfills, key positions in the academic community. That is, Xavier possess a strong (international) network which will benefit our (junior) staff members.

    Research interests: corporate governance, strategy and development, organizational design, creativity & innovation, alliances & acquisitions, performing arts/cultural sector.

    Zachary Estes (Bocconi University, Italy), 2021

    Zachary Estes is currently a Full professor of the Marketing Department at Bocconi University (IT). Professor Estes has published in the major journals within Marketing and Psychology, such as Cognition (EI 93, AI 93), Emotion (EI 90 AI 93), Journal of Experimental Psychology: General, and Psychological Science (EI 90, AI 96). He has also being a member of the editorial board of several of these journals, and has been an associate editor of Cognitive Science (EI 78, AI 90). His work focuses on the fundamentals of human decision making by investigating topics, such as categorization, language, and (sensory) perception. More recently, he applies these psychological theories to marketing topics, such as visual attention and unplanned purchasing, olfactory imagery and product evaluations, thematic similarities and brand extension, and sensory marketing. The research topics Professor Estes is working on fit very well with the research interests of many members of the marketing department, such as Femke van Horen (similarity, categorization, mindsets), Peeter Verlegh (language), Aylin Aydinli (sensory marketing, dual process models), Jiska Eelen (embodiment, eye tracking), and Karen Gorissen (categorization).

    Prof. Bart Frijns (Auckland University of Technology, New Zealand), 2019

    Prof. Bart Frijns is Professor of Finance at Auckland University of Technology (Auckland, New Zealand)

    He is the founding editor of Applied Finance Letters and is a member of the editorial boards of the Journal of Futures Markets and the Global Finance Journal. He has published over 50 articles in peer-reviewed journals, such as the Journal of Financial and Quantitative Analysis, Journal of Economic Behavior & Organization and the  Journal of Economic Dynamics and Control

    As a visiting professor, Bart Frijns continues his ongoing research projects with faculty at SBE, which will be developed further during his stay. He will provide feedback on work in progress and set up new projects with junior faculty. Furthermore, he will organize a workshop regarding publishing for junior faculty, and will contribute to the 2018 edition of the Behavioral Finance Conference (RBFC) at Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam.

    Prof. M. Lynne Markus (Bentley University, USA), 2019

    M. Lynne Markus is the John W. Poduska, Sr. Professor of Information and Process Management at Bentley University and an associated researcher at MIT’s Center for Information Systems Research. She has published extensively in the areas of digital business and interorganizational governance, enterprise systems and business processes, electronic communication and knowledge reuse, and organizational change management. Her current research interests include digital innovation in the financial and health sectors, the responsible use of data and algorithms, and the changing nature of work. Markus was named a Fellow of the Association for Information Systems in 2004 and received the AIS LEO Award for Exceptional Lifetime Achievement in Information Systems in 2008.

    Prof. Alina Sorescu (Mays Business School, Texas A&M University, USA), 2019

    Alina Sorescu is Professor of Marketing, holder of the Paula and Steve Letbetter’ 70 Chair in Business, and Director of the Ph.D. in Business Administration Program – Marketing at the Mays Business School, Texas A&M University. She holds a B.S. in Mathematics from University of Bucharest, a MS from University of Florida and Ph.D. from University of Houston. Her research focuses on business models, product portfolio decisions, branding, acquisitions and alliances, and measuring the financial value of marketing actions. Her research appears in journals such as Marketing Science, Journal of Marketing Research, Journal of Marketing, Journal of the Academy of Marketing Science, Journal of Retailing and others. Alina serves as an Associate Editor of the Journal of Marketing, where she was twice recognized with the best reviewer award and of the International Journal of Research in Marketing; she also currently serves on the editorial boards of the Journal of Marketing Research, Marketing Science and the Journal of the Academy of Marketing Science. Her research awards include the Ricky W. Griffin Outstanding Research Achievement Award, the Strategic Management Society conference on Big Bang Innovation Best Proposal Award, the AMA John A. Howard Dissertation Award, the AMS Mary Kay Dissertation Award, the AMA Winter Conference Best Paper in the Marketing and Technology track, as well as multiple MSI research grants. Her research has also been selected as a finalist for the Paul Green Award for the best article published in the Journal of Marketing Research. Her teaching awards include the Montague Center for Teaching Excellence Scholar Award and the Association of Former Students Distinguished Teaching Award at the college and university level.

    Prof. Sorin Sorescu (Mays Business School, Texas A&M University, USA), 2019

    Sorin Sorescu is Professor of Finance and the Foreman R. and Ruby Bennett Chair in Business Administration at Mays Business School. Prior to joining Mays in 2002, he was Assistant Professor of Finance at the Bauer College of Business, University of Houston. He holds a PhD degree in Finance from University of Florida, as well as an MBA and Bachelors of Electrical Engineering from McGill University in Canada.

    Professor Sorescu’s research interests focus on short sales and informational content of security prices, asset management, market efficiency, and macro finance. His research appears in the Journal of Finance, the Journal of Financial Economics, the Review of Financial Studies, the Journal of Financial and Quantitative Analysis, the Journal of Marketing, the Journal of Financial Markets, the Journal of International Money and Finance, and the Journal of Money, Credit and Banking.

    Professor Sorescu taught corporate finance, financial markets, and investments analysis at the undergraduate, M.S. MBA, EMBA and Ph.D. levels.

    He currently serves as the Head of the Department of Finance.

    Prof. Felisa J. Vázquez-Abad (Hunter College and Graduate Center of the City University New York, USA), 2019

    Felisa J Vázquez-Abad currently works at the Department of Computer Science, City University of New York - Hunter College. Felisa does research in Artificial Intelligence, Computer Communications (Networks) and Computing in Mathematics, Natural Science, Engineering and Medicine.

    Prof. Mo Wang (University of Florida, USA), 2019

    Mo Wang is an internationally renowned professor in career research at the University of Florida (USA). He specializes in research areas as retirement and older worker employment, occupational health psychology, expatriate and newcomer adjustment, leadership and team processes, and advanced quantitative methodologies. 

    The great contribution to the field and his scholar work was acknowledged frequently alongside his academic career. Amongst others, he received the Academy of Management HR Division Scholarly Achievement Award (2008), Careers Division Best Paper Award (2009), European Commission’s Erasmus Mundus Scholarship for Work, Organizational, and Personnel Psychology (2009), Emerald Group’s Outstanding Author Contribution Awards (2013 and 2014), Society for Industrial-Organizational Psychology’s William A. Owens Scholarly Achievement Award (2016), and Journal of Management Scholarly Impact Award (2017) for his research in these areas.  

    In 2015 and 2016, he was an invited speaker for White House Social and Behavioral Sciences Team and conducted a Congressional Debriefing on Retirement for U.S. Congress in 2015. Currently, he serves as the Editor-in-Chief for Work, Aging and Retirement and an Associate Editor for Journal of Applied Psychology.  He also serves on numerous academic journal’s editorial boards.

    Prof. Shannon Anderson (University of California at Davis, USA), 2018

    Prof. Shannon Anderson is Professor of Management at University of California, Davis, USA.

    She is an expert on the design and implementation of performance measurement and cost control systems, and has an extensive track record of publication in leading journals such as Management Science and Contemporary Accounting Research, and has won numerous grants and awards for her contributions to research and practice. She is also member of a number of editorial boards.

    As a visiting professor, Shannon Anderson will collaborate with junior and senior faculty on research projects, give research seminars, and will be lecturing in MSc and post-graduate Accounting programmes ( Management Control the full-time and the part-time programme).

    Prof. Andrew Sturdy (University of Bristol, UK), 2018

    Prof. Andrew Sturdy is Professor of Organizational Behaviour at the University of Bristol (UK)

    His research interests focus mainly on issues of power and identity in the production and use of management ideas. He has published extensively in high ranking academic journals such as Journal of Management Studies, Journal of Organizational Behaviour and Organization Studies. Prof. Sturdy is a member of several editorial boards, and has extensive experience in editing journal special issues.

    As a visiting professor, Andrew Sturdy will be working with PhD students and faculty at the Department of Management & Organisation, and will be teaching in the new Master programmes in Leadership & Change, Management Consulting and Strategy & Organization. He will also perform activities related to the special issue in Journal of Professions and Organization and the editing of a sub-theme to the EGOS Standing Working Group will take place.

    Prof. Nicole DeHoratius(University of Chicago, USA), 2017.

    Prof. Nicole DeHoratius is Adjunct Professor of Operations Management at the University of Chicago’s Booth School of Business (USA).
    She has published in leading journals such as Management Science, Harvard Business Review, and California Management Review. Nicole DeHoratius serves as the Past-President of the Production and Operations Management Society (POMS) College of Supply Chain Management and as an associate editor for MSOM and senior editor for POM.

    As a Visiting Professor, Nicole DeHoratius will conduct research on inventory record accuracy, and be involved in the organization of master classes on retail store operations and the development of research proposals. She will also be contributing to the industry research projects DINALOG and CATeLOG

    Prof. Katrijn Gielens (University of North Carolina, USA), 2017

    Prof. Katrijn Gielens is Associate Professor of Marketing at Kenan-Flagler Business School, University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill (USA).  
    She is an internationally recognized expert in the areas of international retailing and product innovation. Her work has been published in high ranking journals, such as The International Journal of Research in Marketing (IJRM), Journal of Marketing, and Journal of Consumer Research . She has won twice the prestigious IJRM Best Article Award.

    Katrijn Gielens teaches courses in international retail management and econometric and market response models. She serves on the strategy team of AiMark, a global center studying key marketing strategy issues, which brings together academics around the world, two of the top-four market research agencies, and brand manufacturers.

    As a Visiting Professor, Katrijn will work on joint research publications with several members of the Marketing Department and possibly start new projects with other members of the department. She will be giving feedback on papers in development, and be a key-note speaker at the VU/UvA Retailing Day. In addition, Professor Gielens will give a methodological workshop to improve research skills that will appeal to a variety of doctoral students from different FEWEB departments.

    Prof. Brian Pentland (Michigan State University, USA), 2017

    Prof. Brian Pentland is endowed professor at the Eli Broad College of Business at the Accounting and Information Systems department, Michigan State University (USA).

    His research has been influential across fields ranging from information systems, accounting, organization & management studies, to technology and innovation management. His publications have frequently appeared in absolute top journals, including Academy of Management Review, Administrative Science Quarterly, Management Science, Organization Science, and MIS Quarterly.

    During his Visiting Professorship, Brian Pentland will support the KIN group and other ABRI groups to develop their capability in using computational methods for analyzing digitized organizational processes. He will be involved in joint publications, give feedback on existing projects, and participate as faculty in the ABRI / KIN Summerschool in June 2017. He will also offer seminars for a broad audience.

    Prof. Shaul Bar-Lev (Univerisity of Haifa, Israël), 2016

    Prof. Shaul Bar-Lev is full professor at the Department of Statistics at the University of Haifa in Israel. His research interest lies in statistics and in stochastic operations research. He is an international expert on exponential families. In the past 12 years, he has visited The Netherlands many times, leading to intensive research collaboration with Prof. dr. van der Duyn Schouten (leading to 12 published papers plus one under review) and other researchers.

    As a visiting professor Shaul Bar-Lev continues to intensify his research collaboration on Stochastic Operations Research at the Econometrics and OR Department, and will be actively involved in various research activities and events within the School of Business and Economics.

    Prof. Raghu Garud (Penn State University, USA), 2016

    Prof. Raghu Garud is Professor of Management & Organization and the Research Director of the Farrell Center for Corporate Innovation and Entrepreneurship at Penn State University in the USA.
    He has been a leading scholar in the field of technology and innovation studies and his work has been published frequently in absolute top journals in the field of management, including Academy of Management Journal, Academy of Management Annals, Organization Science, Strategic Management Journal, and Organization Studies.
    As a visiting professor, Raghu Garud supports the KIN group in further strengthening its digital innovation research agenda. So far, two members of the KIN group (Philipp Tuertscher and Hans Berends) have already been working and publishing with Raghu Garud.

    Prof. Cheri Ostroff (University of South Australia), 2016

    Prof. Cheri Ostroff is Research Professor at the University of South Australia and renowned scholar in the area of HRM/OB. Cheri has an excellent publication track record: she has published over 40 manuscripts, many of which appeared in top-tier journals, such as Academy of Management Review, Academy of Management Journal, Journal of Applied Psychology, Journal of Organizational Behavior, and Personnel Psychology. Her work has been cited over 8,000 times.
    As a visiting professor, Cheri Ostroff supports the M&O department’s research activities and will organizes a two-day, international Small Group Meeting on the topic of the emergence and multi-level issues on organizations for scholars in the OB area and a Master Class for executives and business practitioners.
