I enrolled in the Fintech and Emerging Financing Models in a Dynamic World course at VU Amsterdam Summer School, and it truly widened my perspective and created long-lasting memories.
The course was engaging and offering hands-on learning through projects, site visits, and exposure to various economic models. It provided a practical, up-to-date understanding of fintech and innovative financing. I worked on two projects with friends, which involved a lot of brainstorming and expanded my perspective on complex issues. I really enjoyed the collaborative approach, and my professors were very supportive. Debating with people from diverse backgrounds also changed my outlook on many aspects of daily life. The experience was not only academically enriching but also truly inspiring.
Beyond academics, the summer school environment was warm and enjoyable. I made friends from all over the world, and every interaction felt open and friendly. We shared meaningful conversations and created lasting memories. I joined trips to Utrecht and Zaanse Schans—a historic area with iconic windmills—which were wonderful experiences. I highly recommend joining the trips, as exploring with friends, makes them even more special.
Lastly, I want to share a special memory from my summer school experience. On the final day, a big group of us went to Vondelpark. I felt as if I had known many of these people for a long time, even though we had only met two weeks earlier. We played games—including a fun one where we tried to knock over a bottle by throwing a friend’s shoe—and celebrated our last day together. We created a bond that I believe will hold strong until we meet again.
Now, I have friends from all around the world, and I still keep in touch with many of them.
