Catarina Dutilh Novaes

Catarina Dutilh Novaes, a professor of philosophy and University Research Chair at Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam, boasts an impressive academic background that speaks volumes.

Serving as a Professorial Fellow at Arché in St. Andrews (2019-2024) and Project Leader for the ERC-Consolidator project 'Social Epistemology of Argumentation' (2018-2024), her expertise in the history and philosophy of logic, philosophy of mathematics, argumentation theory and social epistemology is truly remarkable.

Moreover, she actively engages with general philosophy of science, philosophy of mind, philosophy of technology, and issues related to social categories such as gender and race. As an associate editor for the journal Analysis and a member of the Royal Netherlands Academy of Arts and Sciences (KNAW), Catarina is a driving force in shaping scholarly discussions. Notably, she clinched the prestigious Lakatos Award in 2022 for her monograph 'The Dialogical Roots of Deduction.'
