Internships Faculty of Law

Last updated on 28 October 2024
During your internship or graduation project you will gain relevant work experience and show that you can apply the knowledge and skills that you have acquired during your studies in practice.

The degree programs within the Faculty of Law do not have a compulsory internship, except for the master's degree in Corporate Law at the Zuidas. Although an internship is not mandatory in most cases, you are encouraged to do an internship. In general, you take the initiative for an internship yourself.

If you have a specific study-related question (e.g. you want to receive credits for your internship) about internship, please contact your programme's internship coordinator.

    Internships: tips & tricks

When you wish to do an internship during your studies, you will need to find an internship placement yourself. Please take into consideration that finding an internship placement may take a few months. Therefore start your search in time! Before you actually start looking for internships, it is advisable to thoroughly think about the type of internship you're looking for, at what type of company you'd like to be an intern, and lastly what you would like to learn during your internship.

But how do you increase your prospects once you have found a good internship placement? There are several ways in which you can improve your chances of being invited for an interview. Key is to make yourself stand out. Emphasise your distinguishing qualities on your CV:

    • Be an active member of a study-, sports-, and/or student association
    • Side job
    • Voluntary work
    • Help during Bachelor/Master Open Days
    • Other extra-curricular activities such as the honours programme

To help you navigate the process of obtaining an internship, we have some relevant information on the subject in the Career Portal. Additionally, you can always schedule an appointment with one of our Career Officers in case you need advice or when you would like to have your CV and cover letter checked for an internship application. You can schedule appointments for Internship Advice or CV and Cover Letter Check through the Career Portal.

Please contact the internship coordinator of your degree programme for more practical information such as how to obtain credits for your internship (see above).
