Scholarships for VU-students pursuing a Master’s programme abroad

After your graduation as Bachelor’s or Master’s student, you can get an Erasmus+ scholarship to do an internship as a preparation for the labour market.

The scholarships mentioned below are for applicants with a Dutch nationality who plan to do a (second) complete Master’s programme abroad. The information below is in Dutch, since it is necessary to speak Dutch in order to apply.

Scholarship opportunities

  • VSB scholarship

    The VSB scholarship is only available to Dutch-speaking students. For more information, please use the language switch at the top of this page.

  • Cultural Fund

    The Culture Fund Scholarships are for talented Master's students (with an average of 8 or higher) who wish to pursue a second Master's degree abroad or conduct research abroad after completing their master's degree. The scholarships vary from €1.500-€20.000.

    Scholarships can be applied for until April 1.

  • French Excellence Scholarships

    France Excellence Descartes - application deadline 30 April The France Excellence Descartes scholarships support students from Dutch higher education who want to follow a Master's programme in France. HBO and WO students from any academic discipline can apply for the scholarship. Students with a French nationality are not allowed to apply.

    France Excellence Van Dongen - application deadline 30 April The France Excellence Van Dongen scholarships are intended for students from art and design studies within Dutch higher education who wish to pursue their Master's degree in France. Students with a French nationality are not allowed to apply.

    France Excellence Quantum - application deadline 30 April The France Excellence Quantum scholarships support students, PhDs and young researchers, from Dutch higher education who wish to pursue a Master's programme, or conduct research, in France, and vice-versa. Candidates within quantum can apply for the scholarship. In cooperation with: Quantum Delta NL and QuantEduFrance. Students with a French nationality are not allowed to apply.

    France Excellence Europe - launch to follow soon. Application deadline 30 April. The France Excellence Europe scholarship programme supports a Master's degree at a French university and is intended for Master's students from the 26 countries of the EU, aged between 18 and 26. Follow our socials for more information. Students with a French nationality are not allowed to apply.

    Language Assistants The Language Assistants programme allows students to immerse themselves in French language and culture and the French education system (Académie de Guyane or Académie de Lille) while bringing an enrichment from their own - Dutch - language and culture.

  • Fulbright

    The Fulbright scholarship is for students who wish to pursue a Master's degree in the U.S. after their current undergraduate degree. The scholarship amount is US$50.000.

    To apply for this scholarship, it is important that you have achieved good study results and have well-developed social and cultural skills.

    The condition is that you have Dutch nationality, but exceptions to this are possible.

    Upon completion of your studies in the U.S., you must return to the Netherlands and cannot obtain a visa to study or work in the U.S. for two years. The deadline is mid January.
