A new microstate in Albania
Albania is considering the creation of a new microstate "Sovereign State of the Bektashi Order" . Prime Minister Edi Rama announced this plan at the UN, intending it to be a symbol of moderation, tolerance, and peaceful coexistence among religions.
Professor of Social Anthropology at VU Amsterdam, Dimitris Dalakoglou, an expert in Albania, gave his expert opinion in the BBC News World Service (Spanish language service) arguing that this initiative may serve as a strategic move to facilitate Albania's integration into the European Union but the Suni Islam leaders in Albania may be disatisfied with this upgrading of Bekhtasi.
