Explaining our complex world through modelling and simulation

As a graduate of Computational Science, you will be highly valued for your knowledge and skills in this new field of science. You will be ready to start a career in any professional environment where computation is the core business.

As a Computational Science graduate, you will have skills in:

  • building computational models from real-life observations
  • turning these models into computational structures and performing large-scale simulations
  • applying theory in the analysis of complex simulations
  • analysing the results of your simulations in a virtual laboratory using advanced numerical algorithms
  • utilising the power of the largest supercomputers

You will also have experience in using to some of the most advanced computing, networking, storage and visualisation facilities in the world.

The programme offers a lot of flexibility, which allows you to specialise in the areas that you find important for your future career. And with the technical and analytical skills that you develop in the programme, you will be in high demand no matter what you choose to specialise in.

What can you do after your Master's degree?

Start working

Because the Computational Science programme offers a wide variety of specialisations, our graduates have gone on to work for a wide variety of employers, including:

  • Google
  • KPMG
  • ING Bank
  • The Dutch Ministry of Finance
  • Deltares
  • Nationale-Nederlanden

Check out our Computational Science LinkedIn group to see where some of our alumni have ended up and what some of our current students are doing now.

Or pursue an academic career

Many graduates have also opted for a research career and have pursued a PhD at international universities such as:

  • Oxford
  • ETH Zurich
  • University of Amsterdam
