In the first year, students receive rigorous training in the core subjects and tools of economics, econometrics and finance. In the second year, students specialize in their choice of the institute’s many research areas through field coursework and research master's thesis research.

Students who perform well in the research master's program usually continue in the three-year PhD program. Students in the PhD program typically spend most or all of their time on research. More detailed information can be found in the study guide.

TI Lectures
TI organizes annual Lectures in economics and econometrics where a world-class scholar teaches an intensive advanced small scale course on a topic that appeals to many of the institute’s students and fellows. Past lectures were taught by: Christopher Sims, Trevor Hastie, James A. Robinson, Guido W. Imbens, Pascaline Dupas, Serena Ng, Fatih Guvenen and Benjamin Moll to name a few. Lectures are listed here.
