Understanding politics in a complex world

The VU Master programme in Political Science prepares you for work in complex environments where you have to navigate between competing interests.

Our alumni come to work in politics, but also in the civil service, international organisations, NGOs, media organisations, and multinational companies. As a graduate in political science, you bring to these organisations your distinctive skills in analyzing the political field, in identifying where interests conflict and how they can be brought to align. You will be able to write reports, draft policy documents, conduct presentations before a group, write blogs, summaries, and essays. You will have mastered the skills of debate and effective argumentation. As well as being able to conduct independent research, you will have teamworking skills.

Entering the job market

A wide range of career paths is open to you when you graduate from the VU Master in Political Science. Your analytical skills to think critically and grasp societal complexity, your capacity to conduct independent research and clearly communicate results to different audiences, and your deep knowledge and understanding of various fields in international politics, governance and decision-making are competencies that you can apply across diverse job activities.
