Courses
Period 1
- Strategic Management of Technology and Innovation
In Strategic Management of Technology and Innovation you learn and apply basic theories behind the processes of technology-based innovation within organizations and their environments, the development of innovation strategies, and the organizational implementation of innovation strategies.
The course offers insight in the strategic importance of technological innovation for firms and society, recent developments in technology and innovation, and helps to develop skills to analyze real life cases.
- Governance and Regulation of Emerging Technologies
Governance and Regulation of Emerging Technologies gives an introduction into the ways technology can or should be regulated by discussing general concepts such as the economy (market powers), law (regulation and case law), social conventions and ethics, and the architecture (e.g. the software).
This course explores various ways to regulate and govern societal changes caused by new technological developments.
Period 2
- Theories of Technology Venture Creation
Theories of Technology Venture Creation introduces you to the concept of innovation, organizational strategy, entrepreneurship, resources, transition theory and SBI methodology. Through a short project we study how a new and emerging technology based firm finds their way to the market. The research perspective gives a greater understanding in the context of the innovation ecosystem, resources, organizational strategy and entrepreneurship. Insights are created and challenged by discussing relevant literature in an interactive setting and by conducting a case-study into a company of your choice upon which we analyze and critically reflect upon.
- Enterprising Behavior
In Enterprising Behavior you will learn about the study and practice of entrepreneurial behavior by focusing on six so called entrepreneurial skills: imagining and recognizing opportunities, taking action, perseverance, networking, teamwork, and persuasion.
This course takes an Opportunity-centred approach to enterprising behaviour (OCE). This distinctive approach to learning focuses students on the human behaviours used in thinking, learning, decision-making, working and managing in enterprising ways.
Period 3
- Technology Entrepreneurship in Practice
Technology Entrepreneurship In Practice provides practical hands-on environment for science students to build a business plan for a selected or chosen technologically and science driven business opportunity.
Technology Entrepreneurship in Practice requires you to use, apply and develop your knowledge and skills by working with a team to develop a science-based business. The only requirement for the assignment is that each group chooses a science-based start-up, for example from the incubator in the science building. The course does build on the previous courses but you have a large amount of freedom because you will have to think how you can create value for the start-up. To achieve this teams will interact with the science-based entrepreneur and experts before finally presenting their advice on how to develop the business idea.
Thereby the course provides a practical hands-on environment for science students to directly contribute to the development of a technologically and science driven business opportunity.
