Spatial, Transport and Environmental Economics

Why do some cities thrive while others do not? How can we ensure that motorists go to work outside of peak traffic hours? Why would a country commit to the Kyoto or Sofia Protocol? Why are real estate prices so volatile in many countries? In the master's programme in Spatial, Transport and Environmental Economics, you will deal with these types of issues related to urban, transport, environmental, and real estate economics. This master’s programme receives high ratings. In Keuzegids Masters 2024, the programme was rated the best Economics master's programme in the Netherlands. We also receive consistently high scores in the National Student Survey and the program was awarded a bronze medal in Elsevier's Best Studies 2023.

If you're interested in exploring the dynamics of economic growth, urban development, housing affordability, living and working environments, mobility, resource depletion, and climate change, then choose this master’s programme! The programme will provide you with both the necessary theoretical framework and practical abilities to effectively tackle complex issues. You'll also learn how to provide clear and actionable policy advice based on economic theory. It also offers four specialization options or a combination of them, allowing you to tailor your education to your interests.

Upon completion of this Master's program, you will have excellent professional prospects. Typically, you will secure employment within three months, and often receive a higher salary compared to other economics graduates.
