Understanding the field of Bible translations

Bible Translation in the Digital Age

The Bible is the most read book in the world, with thousands of different translations. How does translating the Bible differ from translating a modern novel? Which role do translations play for common readers but also for world leaders? What are the cultural difficulties in translating the Bible? Can the computer compete us in producing a better translation? This minor explores the fascinating world of the Bible and its many translations.

Bible translation combines many disciplines: biblical studies, linguistics, translation studies, but also cultural studies, contextual theology and digital humanities. This minor gives an introduction into these various disciplines in relation to the translation of the Bible in the 21st century
