Understand more about Islamic tradition in a contemporary context

Islam and Muslims are popular topics of discussion in the West. But what exactly is Islam all about?

The minor in Islam focuses on the Islamic tradition throughout the centuries and in a contemporary context.

After an introduction to the Quran and Sunnah (the prophetic tradition) you will take advanced modules about Kalām (Islamic theology), Islamic jurisprudence (fiqh) and its application in a non-Islamic/European context. You will also learn about Islamic ethics and Hadith sciences. In the minor in Islam you will learn about the Islamic tradition and learn to reflect on discussions about Islam and integration. You will also improve your analytical and communication skills.

This minor is taught in Dutch. Read all about the courses and admissions on the Dutch page.
