Programmes for PhD's with teaching tasks
- UTQ/BKO Teaching course for PhD's
The UTQ/BKO Teaching course (4 ECTS) offers you basic tools and a head start in your teaching. It focuses on your direct contact with (groups of) students. In the two modules that encompass this competency, you will improve your knowledge and skills needed to support student learning with evidence-based didactical and pedagogical content. You will also become (more) aware of your own beliefs on teaching and learning and learn how to teach in alignment with those beliefs. - UTQ/BKO Start to supervise for PhD's
The UTQ/BKO Start to Supervise module (1 ECTS) focuses on helping students who are writing their theses. In this module, you will learn how to improve the process of supervision, giving feedback to students, make appropriate interventions, and communicating in an effective way. - Inspirational Spark Sessions at the PhD Teaching Community
Would you rather join short, inspirational sessions? Join the Spark Sessions for PhD's which take place biweekly over lunchtime. During these inspirational sessions, you will be challenged to think about an aspect of teaching or PhD life. Topics that will be dealt with during these sessions include educational psychology, storytelling, supervising students, theatre skills, your identity as a teacher, assessments, and dialoguing with your supervisor. - Coaching on the job
Want to spar with someone about your teaching, or have a question about your teaching practice? The VU Centre for Teaching and Learning facilitates coaching on the job; a short coaching programme in which you can participate free of charge.
