Emergencies

In all cases of emergency (accident, emergency, physical threat) that require immediate help and action, always call the internal VU emergency number 22222 or 020 59 82 222.

Your call will go to VU Amsterdam’s emergency center (part of the Energy Center). The emergency center ensures that in-house emergency response team is sent to the scene of the incident as quickly as possible. In serious emergencies and accidents, the emergency response team leader alerts VU's operational crisis team.

  • Also call 2222 or 020 - 598 2222 directly if you have already called an ambulance via 112. The VU emergency centre will then arrange for the ambulance to enter the premises and be sent to the right location.
  • In the event of a serious environmental spill, call the internal emergency number 22222 or 020 - 598 2222 immediately. It may be necessary to inform the authorities (Waternet, municipality).

After initial care and assistance at the accident or incident, it is important to report it internally due to legal obligations. You can read how to do this on the page Internal safety hotlines.
