Building a future-proof curriculum together

You don't build a curriculum on your own and there is a lot to consider. Because a programme never stands alone, but is offered in the context of an organisation with the aim of preparing students for society and the labour market.

This programme will help you get a better picture of this context, identify stake holders and clarify goals. We look for answers to challenging core questions ('big ideas'), pay attention to educational themes and the process of curriculum design as a team effort. You develop your competences as a curriculum designer and also work on a future-proof curriculum.

The programme includes an intake interview, a 24-hour kick-off meeting at an external location with overnight stay, 6 half-day 'design workshops' at VU Amsterdam and a half-day harvest meeting. Besides inspiring contributions and best practices from guest speakers and experts by experience, the design ateliers offer space to work independently and with peers on your own curriculum.

Themes that will be discussed are the connection to the VU vision, design principles, didactic models, educational quality and testing, diversity and flexibilisation. Besides the sessions, we also offer participants tools and instruments to lead curriculum design as a team effort.
