Over the last few years the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) have become the umbrella to address the challenges of our times, for example climate change, water, poverty, inequality, health, and responsible consumption and production.
In many of these challenges, religion and theology play, or can play, a significant role. However, the specific contributions of religion, both in perpetuating certain problems and in overcoming them, are often less clear.
The ACRSD focuses on the interaction between religion, theology and sustainable development. Focus areas include:
- SDG 6: clean water and sanitation
- SDG 12: responsible consumption and production
- SDG13: climate action
- SDG17: partnerships for the goals
The centre offers research, education, and projects with society at large. More information can be found through the links below.
The ACRSD participates in the Amsterdam Sustainability Institute (ASI) and cooperates with Environmental Humanities Center (both VU Amsterdam).
